I’ve been doing it for as long as I can remember, and the main reason I love doing Mehendi is seeing how much people love it. I think it’s important to appreciate your culture, where you come from, and who you are, and Mehendi symbolizes that for me in a way. It’s always stricken me that such a simple henna plant is the root of an art form that’s been passed for generations and across borders. It’s always been an artistic and relaxing outlet for me, but seeing the excitement and appreciation on people’s faces, and telling them the history of Mehendi makes it all the more rewarding. Henna never fails to bring back heartwarming memories of Pakistan, weddings, Eid celebrations, and lots of good times. I’m so thankful I’m able to share my love and appreciation for Henna with everyone else.
