A Dose of Spirituality
"When I think about MYNA, I think of Allah. I think of family. I think of love. MYNA has been a place to escape reality and to spend time with people who truly love me for the sake of Allah; that love is only found at MYNA, and I find that so beautiful. MYNA has always taught me something that takes my breath away. The 2018 Illinois Qiyam was one of the best qiyams I have gone too, not only because of the people that were there, but because of the things I learned. At the Qiyam, we talked about the Day of Judgement and the signs of the Day of Judgement. That topic is quite sensitive and frightful to most people, and learning about what we fear most with the people we love most is once again, truly beautiful. We talked about Salah and begging for forgiveness, while cuddling next to each other on a frosty and chilly evening with the light from the rich and deep flame of the bonfire shown on our faces. We stayed up for hours catching up on life and the memories we made without each other but somehow fulfilling that emptiness inside of us when hearing each other talk. When it was time to go, we embraced our loves with deep sadness but also a promise to see each other again. Just like that, another Qiyam is over and now we wait for the next one that will change us, and also strengthen our love for each other and most importantly, for Allah."

"Every MYNA event gives me the opportunity to learn and experience something new. Alhamdullilah, I was able to go to the past MYNA Qiyam in Wheaton, IL. By being exposed to the knowledge of my peers, I learned about the various signs of Allah(SWT)'s existence. For example, the signs include the fascinating creations of Allah(SWT) and the minor/major signs of the Day of Judgement. Open space discussions was also a powerful workshop that allowed me to explore the topic of being a Muslim in my day-to-day life, and how to address common problems I experience as a Muslim. Lastly, a beautiful part of this MYNA qiyam was being able to reunite and make new friends. MYNA friends consist of individuals that are unique and motivate you to be the best version of yourself. They are lifelong friends. By both learning and enjoying a weekend with my friends, Alhamdullilah it was an unforgettable weekend."

"MYNA qiyams always provide a great dose of spirituality and connection. For me, it is a time away from normal activities to spend time getting reacquainted with Allah, to examine the priorities of life and to make concrete and practical resolutions for improvement. My knowledge of Allah through his creations was increased and like always I was left with greater taqwa. MYNA qiyams also give me an opportunity to reconnect with my MYNA sisters who are both my friends and my family."

"The MYNA qiyam, I feel was a great experience everyone should try at least once. No matter what your age is, there are speakers and activities geared toward everyone. The talks are specifically for the Muslim youth and are presented in a professional yet relatable way. I enjoyed the many different activities, including debates and social workshops. It was an amazing opportunity to attend this Qiyam walking in as a stranger and leaving with a new family."

"At MYNA I learned all about the signs of the day of judgement and how it is coming soon. I learned and reflected on the fact that we don’t know when our time will come, so we should always pray, read Quran, and constantly make Duaa. I learned Allah is so merciful and therefore we should ask for forgiveness everyday."
